Modern black solar panels on a terracotta-tiled family home, with leafy hillside suburbs behind

Brisbane residential solar

Turn your power bill into solar you own.

You already pay for electricity every month. We help Brisbane homeowners finance a quality solar system with no large upfront payment, so part of that monthly spend goes towards an asset on your own roof, designed to cut how much power you buy from the grid.

The cost of doing nothing

You're paying for electricity every month anyway.

Monthly or quarterly, the bill always comes back. You pay it, the account resets, and the next one starts building. Nothing you've already paid makes the next bill any smaller.

How it works

Here's how Zero Down Solar works.

Four steps. No large upfront payment. A system designed around your home and how your household actually uses power.

01

Designed around your home

We look at your roof, your household's usage and your recent bills, then design a system to suit. Not a one-size-fits-all package.

02

$0

then fixed repayments

Financed, not paid upfront

Spread the cost with finance instead of paying the full price on day one. Subject to eligibility, credit approval and the applicable finance terms.

03

Power made on your roof

Your panels generate electricity during daylight hours, and your home uses that power first, before buying from the grid.

04

Asset paid down

Example

Pay down the asset

You make repayments on a system installed on your home, while potentially buying less electricity from the grid.

The result: part of your monthly energy spend goes towards a system on your roof, not just a bill that resets.

On your roof

A day in the life of your roof.

Solar reduces how much electricity you buy from the grid. Here's how that plays out on a typical day, from sunrise to after dark.

Panels generating

Morning

01 / 04

The roof starts working.

As the sun comes up, your panels start producing electricity. Output builds through the morning and typically peaks around the middle of the day.

Panels: generating

Home running on solar

Grid: buying less

Middle of the day

02 / 04

Your home uses solar first.

Fridge, pool pump, air-con, washing machine. While the sun's up, your household runs on your own solar before it buys anything from the grid.

Grid electricity bought: reduced

Exporting surplus

Surplus

03 / 04

Extra power goes back to the grid.

When you generate more than you're using, the surplus is exported and your retailer may pay you a feed-in credit. Feed-in rates are usually lower than what you pay for grid power, so using your own solar tends to be worth more.

Feed-in credit: rates vary by retailer

Grid top-up

Solar resting

After dark

04 / 04

The grid (or a battery) fills the gap.

Solar doesn't generate at night, so your home buys power from the grid, or draws from a battery if you add one. The goal is a smaller grid bill, not a promise of no bill.

Straight answers

Fair questions. Honest answers.

If you're weighing up solar finance, you should ask hard questions. Here are the ones we hear most, answered without the sales spin.

Ask Us Something Else

Do I need to pay anything upfront?

Zero Down Solar is built around no-deposit finance options, so for eligible homeowners there may be nothing to pay upfront. Finance is subject to approval. If your home needs extra work, such as a switchboard upgrade, we'll tell you before you sign and show you how it can be covered.

What does the finance actually cover?

Typically the supply and installation of your solar system: panels, inverter, mounting and standard installation. Anything extra, like a battery, a switchboard upgrade or complex roof work, is listed separately in your quote so you can see exactly what's being financed. [Confirm inclusions with your finance partner.]

Will solar eliminate my power bill?

Usually not, and we won't pretend otherwise. Solar reduces how much electricity you buy from the grid during the day. You'll still pay a daily supply charge, plus any power you use at night unless you add a battery. The aim is a smaller bill, not necessarily a zero one.

How much can I realistically save?

It depends on how much power you use, when you use it, your roof, your system size and your tariff. Households that use more power during the day usually get the most value. We'll model your likely generation and show you our assumptions, so you can judge the numbers for yourself.

How long will the system last?

Quality solar panels commonly carry product and performance warranties of up to 25 years or more, depending on the manufacturer. Inverters usually have shorter warranties. We'll give you the exact warranty terms for the equipment we quote. [Insert your specific warranty details.]

What happens if I move house?

The system is fixed to your home, so it generally stays with the property. What happens to the finance depends on your agreement; for example, it may need to be paid out when you move. We'll walk you through this before you sign.

What happens if I sell my property?

Solar can be a selling point for buyers. If there's finance still owing, it's usually settled as part of the sale, depending on your finance agreement. Check the specific terms with us and your finance provider before you commit.

What happens if the system produces less than expected?

Generation varies with weather and seasons, so we give you an estimate, not a promise. If you think your system is underperforming, we'll check the monitoring data and inspect it. Faults are covered by the relevant product and workmanship warranties. [Insert your performance and service policy.]

What brands of panels and inverters do you use?

[Insert panel and inverter brands.] We choose established manufacturers with an Australian presence, so warranty support is straightforward. Your quote will list the exact models.

Do I need a battery?

Not necessarily. A battery stores daytime solar for use at night, but it adds cost. For many homes, panels alone are the best place to start, and many systems can be designed so a battery can be added later. Government battery incentives may be available, depending on eligibility.

Is finance subject to approval?

Yes. All finance is subject to eligibility criteria and credit approval by the finance provider. Fees, charges, terms and conditions apply. You'll see the terms in writing before you sign anything.

How does solar work at night?

It doesn't generate at night. After sunset your home uses power from the grid, or from a battery if you have one. That's why solar makes the biggest difference to the power you use during the day.

Will this work on my Brisbane home?

Most Brisbane homes with a reasonably sunny, unshaded roof are good candidates. Roof direction, pitch, shading and material all matter, and so does your switchboard. We'll assess your home, often starting with satellite imagery, and tell you honestly if solar isn't a good fit.
